Have you ever wished for an army of clones to do all your thankless tasks and chores? Well, that fantasy is becoming a reality—at least on the Internet. And while they may not be actual clones, bots have begun doing lots of digital dirty work. Managing your relationship with bots—good and bad—has become an inherent part of doing business in a connected world. With more than half of online traffic initiated by autonomous programs, it’s clear that bots are a driving force of technological change, and they’re here to stay. As bot technology, machine learning, and AI continue to evolve, so will the threats they pose. And while some bots are good, many are malicious—and the cybercriminals behind them are targeting your apps. Preparing your organization to deal with the impact of bots on your business is essential to developing a sustainable strategy that will enable you to grow as you adapt to the new bot-enabled world.

Digital innovation has changed everything: the money is everywhere, so every business is a potential target for fraud. Banks and financial institutions used to be the primary targets of fraud. Why banks? To quote the notorious American bank robber Willie Sutton, “because that’s where the money is.” While banks remain firmly in the crosshairs of fraudsters, the avalanche of digital business innovation has changed everything. Since the money is everywhere, every business is a potential target for fraud. The same technology that helps us find airfare deals, sweet concert seats, or the best prices on the hottest Jordan shoes– that is, bots–can now be used by criminals. Fraudsters employ automated, faceless bots that scour business apps looking for any opportunity to profit. And since fraud targets business-process weaknesses and not just software vulnerabilities, you may not even know when it is happening.

In today's digitalized economy, web applications and the browsers that connect to them predominantly rely on the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocols to encrypt sensitive business information and personally identifiable information (PII) – such as customers’ credit card details, user account passwords, corporate sales and payroll data, etc. – before sending them securely over the internet. SSL/TLS encryption ensures information transmitted over the internet through e-mails, e-commerce and online banking transactions and a myriad of cloud and online services are kept secure.

Is maintaining the status quo ever really “good enough”? Any business–in any sector–that thinks “good enough” is going to elevate them and allow them to scale, is making a costly mistake. Yet, the fact remains that many marketers are relying on advertising methods and platforms that work just well enough to keep the business going.

Cyber security is today an unavoidable concern for law firms and the legal sector at large, which oversees disproportionately large volumes of sensitive data and which is therefore an attractive target for sophisticated threat actors. From confidential information about mergers and acquisitions to disclosures made under attorney-client privilege, today’s law firms are inundated with data that would be disastrous if leaked, both for the results of individual cases and for these firm’s long-term reputations. Indeed, this reputational damage diminishes the very trust upon which the legal profession is predicated, jeopardizing client relationships and hindering customer acquisition. Legal organizations lose 5% of their clients following a data breach, while significant or high-profile breaches can even prompt a firm’s eventual collapse, as was the case for Mossack Fonseca in the infamous Panama Papers breach. In today’s increasingly digital business world, even the most private legal docum

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but people keep talking about how we’re in the midst of a retail apocalypse. It’s this thing where lots of brick-and-mortar locations close down, and even entire companies go out of business. There’s quite a bit of blame to go around: The Great Recession, and Amazon, and private equity, and shifting consumer spending behaviors. In spite of the doomsday headlines, some brands continue to succeed, and a lot of those brands seem to be focusing on one thing: the customer experience. A good retail experience for a customer can be as complicated as incorporating innovative technology like 3D printing to create a clothing item on-demand, or as simple as focusing on the store employees. Unfortunately, a lot of brands and retailers overlook the latter. In fact, according to this recent panel surveying retail employees, only 35% of retail employees feel as though training is effective. That’s a scary number for both retailers and brands, because without a well train

Customer and supplier portals are one of the many fruits borne from the age of digital transformation. However, the level of accommodations that portals provide to customers and suppliers has spawned a whole new set of challenges that didn’t exist less than a decade ago. Chief among these is something referred to as “portal fatigue.” Many AR departments and CSR teams are painfully familiar with the term, as it’s often their job to either retrieve orders from a customer portal or submit invoices directly into customers’ AP systems. On paper, these tasks don’t seem all that odious. But when you consider the amounts of different portals being used, and the fact that not every user is trained on each portal, it’s easy to see why portal fatigue is a very real and concerning problem for today’s businesses.

The basic promise of blockchain is that it works as a global distributed ledger or database of things we value - everything from money, to creative work and votes - so these can then be managed and transacted in a trusted and secure manner. Yes, blockchain is a young technology, but well past its infancy. Today, the somewhat inflated expectations around the technology have been brought to a more realistic level and we are beginning to see practical applications across the enterprise. Although these are typically in the realm of reducing cost and/or time for transactions, improving product and system security, finding and preventing fraud and counterfeiting and increasing transparency, there are also instances of businesses relying on blockchain to create new revenue streams. Infosys recently commissioned an independent survey of senior executives worldwide. Download the report to read about their findings.
