• Our survey of companies that currently offer, or plan to launch, so-called “direct to consumer,” or over-the-top (OTT), video services in the market suggests that the industry is maturing. Though 51 percent of those surveyed view their video service as a money-making venture, 49 percent see it as providing some other primary benefit to the company. Not only are the types of OTT video services offered to consumers becoming more diverse, but the marketing and distribution are also improving such that target audiences are more likely to find new services intended for them

As mobile device usage has skyrocketed in recent years, mobile applications have emerged as the key engagement channel for businesses to connect with their most loyal and most valuable customers. Mobile app usage represents more than 85% of total mobile device time, and users now spend more time with apps than they do with television. But while app usage has increased more than 60% over the last two years, the number of apps each user actively engages with has remained fairly steady, at around 27 per month. This means users have a limited appetite for additional apps – but are heavily engaged with the ones they use. So while the mobile web gives businesses broad reach, mobile apps offer a robust link to their best customers. Users who value the company enough to go through the trouble of downloading and installing the app are a brand’s most engaged audience and loyal fan base.

Online images used to be simple. In the past, they weren’t the focal point of a page — there were only a handful of images on a given page and all users were viewing online images on a desktop with dial-up. That has all changed. Today’s web pages are dynamic, filled with images and viewed by end users on different devices with varying connectivity. As audience expectations for rich web experiences have grown, so has the requirement to deliver increasingly image-heavy web applications. The problem? The cost and complexity of creating, storing, and delivering web images tailored for every device poses a significant challenge for businesses, but failing to address the increasing diversity across devices and networks will lead to a poor and inconsistent user experience. Current solutions don’t solve this problem completely.

A Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) audit can be passed by complying with the bare minimum requirements, but that falls short of the purpose of it: to secure and protect cardholder data. Meeting compliance is about passing an audit at a specific point in time and also maintaining it after the audit. The real challenge is sustaining continuous compliance to avoid costly breaches at the hands of motivated and skilled adversaries. Indeed, as detailed in Verizon's "2017 Payment Security Report," nearly half (45%) of the companies examined between 2015 and 2016 were not fully PCI DSS compliant.

Many sales organizations continue to operate as they have for years: At headquarters, executives work with sales leaders to set revenue targets for the year. Sales teams receive top-down goals, which cascade across product lines, channels and other business dimensions. The end result is an account-level target, which is assigned to a sales rep.
